The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) L3 – Engagement Leadership program is a 12–14 hour training program from Xebia. It is built for L2 graduates, or Solutions Architects and senior engineers with 5+ years of experience and a proven system architecture background. Graduates own the business case, the technical roadmap, and the executive relationship inside enterprise engagements, without an intermediary product manager.

Classroom delivery is followed by a Pre-Sales and Discovery Rotation and Phase 3 of the Deployment Ramp — full autonomy as an embedded FDE in the client environment.

  • Product Ownership & Commercial Engineering (4 hours) ROI quantification and business case development, effort estimation, scoping and risk assessment, build-vs-buy-vs-AI decisions, technology evaluation frameworks, Architecture Decision Records, solution roadmapping, and proposal engineering.

Course information

Duration: 12–14 classroom hours across four capability areas, plus a pre-sales rotation and ongoing engagement-based practice.

The capstone is an end-to-end enterprise engagement simulation with commercial deliverables: a quantified ROI business case, an effort estimate with risk assessment, and a technical solution roadmap.

L3 draws on the same enterprise technology landscape as L2, applied from an architecture-governance standpoint, plus leadership-layer tooling: ADR templates, proposal and SOW templates, and executive business-case tooling.
