AI-Assisted Coding

Your AI assistant writes code quickly. It also guesses about your project, and it never tells you it guessed. This one-day course turns an AI coding assistant from unpredictable autocomplete into something you can direct, check and rely on. You work in Claude Code on a real Python codebase, and you leave with habits that hold up whichever assistant your team uses.

What will you learn?

After the training, you will be able to:

Explain what an AI coding assistant can and cannot see in your project, and predict where it will quietly guess.

Review AI-generated code critically and verify it before you accept it.

Write prompts that scope the change, state the criteria and define what done means.

Automate repeated instructions and checks so your conventions are applied without anyone having to remember them.

Engineer the context an assistant works from, including a project instruction file your whole team can rely on.

Judge where AI genuinely speeds up delivery, using what the research measures rather than what the vendors claim.

Program

Short theory blocks alternate with hands-on exercises, four of them across the day. You work on a real Python project in your own editor, and every technique is practised before the block ends.

  • Foundations
  • Prompting that does not guess
  • Context engineering
  • Making it work your way

This training is for you if:

You already use an AI coding assistant on real work and keep finding it unreliable on your own codebase.

You want to move past autocomplete and start directing the assistant deliberately.

You work in Python and want habits that hold up on code other people depend on.

This training is not for you if:

You want to build AI agents or LLM applications rather than use an assistant on your own code (see LLMs & Agentic AI for Developers instead).

You want to learn how to transform notebook code into production-ready code (check out our Production-Ready Machine Learning course instead)

You cannot install and use an AI coding assistant on the machine you will bring.

Why should I follow this training?

Practise on real code, not slides. Four hands-on exercises in one day, all on a working Python project with real bugs in it.

Leave with something you keep. You write a project instruction file and build your own reusable commands and checks, and you take them back to your own repository.

Get an honest picture. We cover what the productivity research actually measures, so you can set realistic expectations with your team instead of quoting a vendor number.

What else
should I know?

After registering for this training, you will receive a confirmation email with practical information. A week before the training, we will ask you about any dietary requirements and share literature if you need to prepare.
